Baseball blanks Norwich in GNAC Opener, 10-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Trevor Juan went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI as the JWU (Providence) baseball team opened Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a 10-0 win over Norwich University Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The Bolton, Connecticut native launched a three-run home run in the fourth and singled in another in a five-run eighth inning for the Wildcats (8-8, 1-0 GNAC), who ran their win streak to four while improving to 2-0 at home. Classmate Xavier Botelho picked up three hits and two RBI and senior Owen Davis, junior Jack Obert, and freshman Yedan Diaz all collected two hits.

Botelho plated Juan with a single to left in a two-run first for JWU, which carried a 3-0 lead to the fourth when Juan's second round tripper of 2025 pushed the lead to 5-0. Run-scoring hits from both Juan and Botelho in the eighth were following by an RBI hit by pitch from senior Ryan St. Jean and bases-loaded walks to Diaz and junior Ryan Ducey to make it 10-0.

Junior Aidan Vining tossed a complete-game, four-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lift his record to 2-0.
