PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior
Jack Obert notched three hits and drove in two runs for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 10-3 win at Rhode Island College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Pontarelli Field.
Seniors
Trevor Juan and
Owen Davis also plated two runs each as the Wildcats (6-8) picked up their third win in their last four outings. Seven different student-athletes crossed the plate for JWU and the team drew eight walks.
A two-run double off the bat of Juan sparked a three-run first and staked the visitors to an early lead. Obert laced a two-run single in the fourth to make it 5-1 JWU before the visitors put up one in the fifth, three in the sixth, and another in the seventh to grab a commanding 9-2 lead. Davis and senior
Ryan St. Jean each recoded an RBI during the run.
In the seventh, freshman
Jeff Valdez Jimenez smacked his second home run of the season to cap the scoring for the Wildcats. Junior
Brett Nickerson was credited with the win as he worked two innings of scoreless relief to earn his first win of 2025.
