No. 6 Blue Jays knock off Wildcats in Saturday matinee

BALTIMORE, Md. – Freshman Jeff Valdez Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI single for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 12-2 loss to No. 6 Johns Hopkins University Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Babb Field.

Senior Ryan St. Jean registered two hits and sophomore Henry Melanson laced an RBI single for the Wildcats, who received four innings of five-hit ball from senior starter Ryan Schultz. The Hebron, Connecticut native allowed three runs and three walks while striking out four.

Jimenez drove in junior Jack Obert in the third to tie the game at one before the Blue Jays scored one in the third and fourth, four in the fifth, and five in the sixth to open up a 12-2 lead. JWU finished the contest with 11 hits, including the first collegiate hits for sophomore Diego Tavares and freshman Corey Magill.
