Baseball hangs 30 runs on Anna Maria in doubleheader sweep

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) baseball team scored a pair of wins over Anna Maria College Monday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the New England Baseball Complex. The Wildcats cruised to a 13-3 win in the opener before thumping the AMCats in game two, 17-4.

Game On: Wildcats 13, AMCats 3 (7 inn.)
Senior Riley Hasson belted a three-run home run and sophomore Jack Obert cleared the bases with a double to spark an eight-run seventh inning and propel the Wildcats to a game one win. Junior Trevor Juan also left the yard and finished with three hits and two runs scored while junior Owen Davis went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Sophomore Aidan Vining tossed seven innings of three-hit ball to pick up his fourth win of 2024, striking out nine.

Game Two: Wildcats 17, AMCats 4
Davis launched a two-run home run in the first and finished 4-for-4 with five RBI as JWU rolled past the home team in the nightcap. Classmate Zachary Amero highlighted a six-run second inning with a three-run triple while Hasson collected three hits and drove in three in support of junior Garrett Fusco, who fanned four in five innings of work to collect his second win. Seven of the nine student-athletes in the starting lineup recorded at least one RBI for head coach Kevin Casey.
