Wildcats knock off Mariners in regular season finale, 14-4

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Trevor Juan collected four hits and drove in three for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 14-4 win over Mitchell College Sunday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Juan laced an RBI double in the fifth and plated two more with a single in the seventh as the Wildcats (23-10, 13-3 GNAC) pounded out 16 hits and roll into the conference playoffs on a three-game win streak. Seniors EJ Leone and Riley Hasson, along with junior Owen Davis and sophomore Jack Obert, all recorded two RBI while senior Jack Magane picked up three hits.

Five different student-athletes took the hill for JWU as juniors Garrett Fusco and Justin Markell each tossed two innings before classmates Nick Calenda and Ben Fosberg, along with sophomore Elijah Barber and freshman Evan LaMothe, all worked one inning in relief. Markell was credited with the win as he worked two scoreless innings behind Fusco, who started.
