Botelho's walk-off blast gives Wildcats 3-1 win over Elms

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Xavier Botelho hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning as the JWU (Providence) baseball team walked-off with a 3-1 win against Elms College Friday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Classmate Owen Davis picked up two hits and drove in a run with an RBI single in the third for the Wildcats (8-5), who ran their win streak to three games. Sophomore Jack Obert also collected two hits in support of sophomore Aidan Vining, who scattered seven hits over nine innings of one-run ball, striking out eight.

The Wildcats led 1-0 heading to the fifth when Eliel Colon singled through the right side to push across the tying run. The game remained tied until extra innings when Botelho took an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to plate both he and Davis.

Junior Garrett Fusco picked up the win in relief as he fanned two over a pair of hitless frames.
