Jumbos hand Wildcats first loss of 2024

MEDFORD, Mass. – Junior Owen Davis belted a two-run home run and drove in three for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 12-8 loss at Tufts University Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Sol Gittleman Park.

Classmate Xavier Botelho plated two runs for the Wildcats, who suffered their first loss of the season. Senior EJ Leone and sophomore Jack Obert also picked up an RBI against the Jumbos while both Leone and senior Riley Hasson collected two hits each.

Davis opened the scoring in the second with a two-run shot to center. In the seventh, Leone and Botelho notched RBI singles and Davis capped the scoring for JWU in the ninth with a sac fly.

Head coach Kevin Casey used eight student-athletes on the bump. Junior Ben Fosberg, sophomore Max Randazzo, and freshman Max Person each tossed a hitless frame.
