PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Johnson & Wales (RI) University sophomore
Trevor Juan has been named to the
2023 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III Region 1 All-Defensive Team.
A native of Bolton, Connecticut, Juan started all 45 games in centerfield for the Wildcats in 2023, helping them to a program-record 30 wins and the program's third-straight NCAA Tournament berth. He posted a fielding percentage of 1.000 while making 113 putouts, and was also credited with three assists.
Offensively, Juan tied for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) lead with 10 home runs and finished tied for third in doubles (14), and fourth in both hits (62) and RBI (41). The GNAC Second Team pick batted .454 in four NCAA Tournament games (10-for-22) with six RBI, highlighted by a 5-for-7, four-RBI effort in a win against Middlebury on May 19.
The ABCA NCAA Div. III Region All-Defensive teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the
ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee. The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union. The committee also includes Justin Beach (SUNY Brockport), Brian Casey (U.S. Coast Guard Academy), Dean Glus (The College of New Jersey), Dan Gomez (Western New England University), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Yogi Lutz (Alvernia University) and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).
Players selected to the ABCA NCAA Div. III Region All-Defensive teams were eligible for ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors. The
2023 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners in all divisions were announced Wednesday, June 21.
