PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University baseball team was defeated by Salve Regina University 17-4 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Junior Xavier Botelho launched a two-run home run in the eight for the Wildcats (17-13), who also received an RBI double off the bat of junior Riley Hasson and an RBI single from classmate Jack Magane. Hasson finished the contest with three hits and a pair of runs scored.

Freshman Brett Nickerson allowed 11 hits and nine runs (eight earned) in five innings of work for JWU. He walked one and struck out four.
