Wildcats drop two to AMCats in GNAC baseball

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University baseball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contests to Anna Maria College Friday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Game One: AMCats 6, Wildcats 1
Sophomore Trevor Juan plated the lone JWU run with an RBI groundout in the seventh. Freshman Aidan Vining allowed eight hits and six runs (four earned) to go with three walks and eight strikeouts to fall to 1-2 on the season. The Wildcats were held to three hits.

Game Two: AMCats 4, Wildcats 2
Junior Riley Hasson collected two hits for the Wildcats, one of which drove in the first run of the game in the second inning to stake them to a 1-0 lead. The AMCats then put up a '4' spot in the fourth to grab the lead. Freshman Jack Obert laced an RBI single in the sixth to cut the JWU deficit to 4-2, but it managed just two hits the rest of the way. Graduate student Kyle Cutler took the loss as he allowed six runs and four hits (one earned) while striking out five.
