MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior Thorin Sanchez-Guerra went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and three RBI to help the Johnson & Wales (RI) University baseball team cruise to a 14-1 win over La Roche University morning in non-conference baseball action at Crossley Field.
Senior Miles Kelly registered for hits, drove in three runs, and scored three times for the Wildcats (3-3) while junior Jack Magane drove in two with an RBI single. Graduate student Griffin Snyder, along with sophomores Xavier Botelho and Trevor Juan, all picked up two hits as JWU pounded out 15 hits on the day.
The Wildcats led 9-0 after four, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Kelly, a run-scoring double from Sanchez-Guerra, and an RBI single from sophomore AJ Braid. They tacked on five more in the seventh behind Sanchez-Guarra's home run, an RBI single from Kelly, and a pair of unearned runs.
Sophomore Ryan Schultz allowed three hits and one run over five to earn the win. He walked a pair and fanned seven.
