The Johnson & Wales Baseball team traveled across Providence to take on the Rhode Island College Anchormen on Tuesday afternoon, falling 11-6. JWU drops to 2-13 while RIC improves to 10-4-1.
The hosts opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, second four runners home. JWU responded on the top of the third inning, also sending four runners home, headlined by a Griffin Snyder (Marietta, Ga.) single that plated two Wildcats.
After the teams traded runs in the fifth and sixth inning, the Anchormen plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 10-5 lead. JWU scored one through Gus Lappin (South Portland, Me.) in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling 11-6.
JWU hosts the Sulffok Rams on Thursday afternoon in another non-conference tilt, starting at 4:00pm.
