Box Score The women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback against host Springfield at the 2014 Springfield Invitational on Friday evening. Springfield posted a 25-16 win in the opening set and increased their lead to 2-0 with a 25-15 win in set two. The host Pride then closed out the contest with a 25-21 win in the third and deciding set.
Junior Paula Cavadid (Pawtucket, R.I.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with nine kills and five digs while fellow junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) added 18 set assists and two digs in the setback for the Wildcats.
Kelsey McGayhey paced Springfield with 11 kills and two blocks while Molly Giannattasio notched 15 set assists and six digs in the victory for the Pride.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 0-3 while Springfield improves to 1-0. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, September 6th when they take on Amherst at the Springfield Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
