Women's Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Setback Against ECSU

The women's volleyball team tipped off the 2014 campaign with a 3-1 setback against Eastern Connecticut in a non-conference contest at Geissler Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales took the 25-20 win in the opening set before ECSU rallied for a 25-23 win in set two.  The host Warriors then closed out the match with 25-21, 25-19 wins in the third and fourth set en route to the 3-1 victory.

Senior Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) paced Johnson & Wales with 13 kills and 15 digs while junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) added 12 digs and 29 assists in the setback for the Wildcats.

Adrianna Mihalek led Eastern Connecticut with a match high 14 kills while sophomore Ashley Adams added 11 kills in the victory.  Allie Luppi led the Warriors with ten digs,  while Sarah Leonard notched 17 set assists.

With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 0-1 while Eastern Connecticut is now 1-0 on the year.  The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, September 3rd when they travel to Western New England University for a non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
