Box Score 2 The women's volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match at the University of St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats suffered a 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 13-15) setback against Emmanuel before rebounding for a 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14) win over host Saint Joseph.
In the win over Saint Joseph, Johnson & Wales was led by senior Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) who tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs while junior Marissa Bunnewith (Millbury, Mass.) notched a team-best 12 kills and three digs. Junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) added a double-double of her own with 44 set assists and 14 digs while senior Kaitlin Kuntz (Boone, Iowa) had 28 digs in the victory for the Wildcats. Tiffany Mapusaga paced Saint Joseph with 21 kills and 22 digs while Megan Williams notched 32 set assists and 17 digs in the loss for the Blue Jays.
Senior Tai Heath (Clinton, Md.) led the way for JWU in the loss to Emmanuel, recording a double-double with 10 kills, 18 digs and three blocks while junior Paula Cadavid (Pawtucket, R.I.) had a team-high 11 kills and eight digs for the Wildcats. Tensen also notched a double-double for JWU with 42 set assists and 10 digs while Kuntz tallied 32 digs in the setback. Cassie Chruscielski notched a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs for Emmanuel while Shannon Dudley had 34 set assists and 21 digs in the win for the Saints.
With the split Johnson & Wales is now 13-15 on the year and 6-3 in the GNAC. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, November 1st when they host Lasell and Albertus Magnus for a GNAC tri-match starting at 10:00 a.m.
