Box Score The women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 (23-25, 25-8, 25-17, 25-18) victory against intra-state rival Rhode Island College in a non-conference contest at the Wildcat Center on Tuesday evening. The win completed the season sweep for JWU in the series as the Wildcats notched a 3-0 win at the Murray Center earlier this season.
Junior Paula Cadavid (Pawtucket, R.I.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with a double-double on 11 kills and 16 digs while Lauren Cordts (Amherst, N.H.) notched 11 kills, three digs and a block in the victory. Junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) tallied 32 set assists and 14 digs while senior Kaitlin Kuntz (Boone, Iowa) notched 15 digs and three service aces for the Wildcats.

Freshman Abigayl White (Coventry, R.I.) added a double-double with 26 set assists and 13 digs while junior Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, R.I.) notched a team-high 23 digs with seven kills in the setback.
Johnson & Wales controlled the action early on in the first set, racing out to a 9-0 lead after a miscue by RIC. The visiting Anchorwomen climbed all the way back and knotted the game at 21-21 on a ball handling error from the Wildcats. RIC then closed out the set on a 4-2 run for the 25-23 win in the set and the 1-0 victory.
The Wildcats again held the commanding lead in the second set, taking the 12-1 lead on a kill by Cadavid to force the RIC timeout. JWU never looked back and cruised to the 25-8 victory, capping the win in the set on a kill by Cadavid to knot the match at 1-1.
The third set saw another JWU surge to start as the Wildcats jumped out to the 15-6 advantage after a service ace from junior Marissa Bunnewith (Millbury, Mass.). RIC responded, however and capitalized on a JWU miscue to cut the lead to 20-13. It wouldn't be enough though as the Wildcats held on for the 25-17 victory to take the 2-1 advantage in the match.
In the fourth and deciding set, RIC led the way early, taking a 14-11 lead on a JWU service error. The Wildcats rallied to knot the game at 15-15 after an attacking error by the Anchorwomen. JWU then controlled the match down the stretch, closing it out on a 10-3 run en route to the 25-18 victory and the 3-1 win in the match.
With the victory Johnson & Wales improves to 11-14 on the year while Rhode Island College falls to 10-11 for the season. JWU will return to action on Wednesday, October 22nd when they travel to Suffolk for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest starting at 7:00 p.m.
