Box Score 2 The women's volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match on the road against Rivier and Norwich on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped a 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 22-25) decision against host Rivier before rebounding for a decisive 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-18) victory against Norwich.
In the opener against Rivier, the Wildcats were led by junior Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) with 11 kills and nine digs while senior Giselle Cram (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) notched 21 digs the setback for the Wildcats. Molly McCormack paced Rivier with eight kills and 16 digs while Emily O'Reilly tallied 27 set assists in the win for the Raiders
Again, Drapeau paced the Wildcats in the win over Norwich with eight kills and seven digs. Junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) recorded 17 set assists and nine digs for the Wildcats. Alex Palmer had eight kills and six digs for Norwich while Corinne Baita recorded 14 set assists and seven digs in the loss for the Cadets.
With the split Johnson & Wales is now 5-16 overall and 2-2 in the GNAC. The Wildcats will return to action on Monday, October 14th when they host Mount Ida and Suffolk in a GNAC tri-match at the Wildcat Center starting at 10:00 a.m.
