Box Score The men's soccer team suffered a
2-0 setback against Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic
Conference contest on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Norwich got on the board just 8:54 into the contest when
Anthony Amell put in a loose ball in the box to
give the Cadets the 1-0 advantage. Norwich extended their
lead just over three minutes later when Roger
Motaze put in a pass from Garrett
Shufelt for the 2-0 lead. Norwich took the two goal
lead into halftime despite JWU holding the 9-8 advantage in
shots.
The Wildcats would have several chances in the second half, but
couldn't capitalize as Norwich held on for the 2-0
victory.Senior Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) made
eight saves in goal for the Wildcats while Alex
Toomey had three stops in the shutout for Norwich.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 1-6-1 on the year and
1-2 in the GNAC while Norwich is now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in league
play. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday,
September 29th when they host Fitchburg State in a
non-conference contest at 3:30 p.m.
