Box Score The Johnson & Wales men's soccer team dropped a 3-1
decision against Suffolk in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference
contest at Dilboy Stadium on Saturday evening.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half with Suffolk
holding a 10-2 advantage in shots for the first 45 minites.
Early in the second stanza, Suffolk would break the scoreless
tie when Christian Zambrano scored on a corner kick to give the
Rams the 1-0 lead. Johnson & Wales responded in the
56th minute when sophomore Ben Bellows (Chester, Conn.)
put in a pass from freshman Jean St. Fleur (Newton, Mass.) to knot
the game at 1-1.
Suffolk took the 2-1 lead at the 67:45 mark when Danny Lloyd
converted a penalty kicks and then added an insurance goal on a
tally from Jeff Harvey in the 70th minute en route to
the 3-1 victory.
Senior Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) made six saves in goal for
the Wildcats while junior Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) had one
stop in the win for Suffolk.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 1-5-1 on the year and
1-1 in the GNAC while Suffolk is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league
play. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday,
September 25th when they travel to Norwich for a Great Northeast
Athletic Conference contest at 1:00 p.m.
