Box Score The Johnson & Wales men's soccer team dropped a 6-1
decision against Connecticut College in a non-conference contest at
Pierce Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Connecticut College took the early lead when senior
Trevor Prophet
(Nashua,
N.H.) put in a pass from junior
Mike Crosby
(Sudbury,
Mass.) at the 13:10 mark.
The visiting Camels extended their lead to 2-0 at the 21:47 mark
when junior Oscar Brown
(Ridgefield,
Conn.) went on a breakaway down
the right side of the field and buried a shot from 10 yards
out. Johnson & Wales got on the board when junior
Stefano Magro (Frankfort, N.Y.) split a pair of
Connecticut College defenders in the middle of the field and
blasted in a shot to the right corner of the net to make the score
2-1 in the 31st minute for his first collegiate
goal. Conn. College took the one goal lead into halftime
after out shooting JWU by an 11-6 margin.
In the second stanza, the visiting Camels went up 3-1 seven
minutes into the half on a goal by sophomore Nick
Maghenzani (Allendale,
N.J.) at 52:54. Conn.
College then tallied a pair of goals less than thirty seconds apart
in the 73rd minute en route to the 6-1 victory.
Senior Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) made 12
saves in the setback for Johnson & Wales, while freshman
Casey Marino
(Hampden,
Mass.) recorded four saves in the
win for Connecticut College.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 1-3-1 overall while
Connecticut College improves to 2-0 for the season. The
Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, September
16th when they travel to Bridgewater State for a
non-conference contest, starting at 4:00 p.m.
