Box Score The Johnson & Wales men's soccer squad suffered a 6-1
setback against Framingham State in a non-conference contest at
Maple Street Field to open the 2010 season on the road on Wednesday
afternoon.
Senior midfielder Scotty Faria (Fall River, Mass.) and senior
forward Jason Silva (Northbridge, Mass.) each picked up a hat trick
in the win for the Rams.
Johnson and Wales scored first and took a 1-0 lead in the
18th minute on sophomore Ben Bellows' (Chester, Conn.)
first goal of the season.
The Rams would score six unanswered goals en route to the
win. Silva tied the game at 21:01 of the first half as
converted off an assist from sophomore Cory Ferris (Somerset,
Mass.). Silva would add his second in the 33rd
minute to send the game to half with the Rams leading 2-1.
Junior Richie Green (Haverhill, Mass.) assisted on Silva's second
tally.
Faria scored the Rams first three goals of the second half to
push the Rams lead to 5-1 and Silva finished the scoring in the
83rd minute with his third of the game.
Joe
Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) made 11 saves in the loss for Johnson
& Wales, while Greg Halle (Beverly, Mass.) picked up his first
win and made five stops for the Rams.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 0-1 while Framingham
State is 1-0. The Wildcats will return to action this weekend
when they travel to Springfield College for the SC Invitational,
starting Saturday at noon.
