Men's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Setback To Lasell

The men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback against first-place Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on the road on Monday afternoon. 

Lasell jumped out to the early lead when senior Dan Hatch put in a shot from six yards out to give the Lasers the 1-0 lead just 4:23 into the contest.  The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the half with both teams having solid scoring chances.  Neither could convert, however as Lasell took the one goal lead into halftime.

The teams continued to trade shots throughout the second half before Lasell capped off the scoring in the final forty seconds of the game when Marcus Lopez blasted in a shot from 28 yards out to give the Lasers the 2-0 victory.

Senior Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) had 11 saves in goal for the Wildcats while Matthew Bruninghaus finished with six saves in the shutout for Lasell.

With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 2-9-1, 1-5 in the GNAC while Lasell improves to 6-5-1 overall, 5-0-1 in the GNAC. The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, October 14th when they travel to Salve Regina for non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
