BIDDEFORD, Maine - The JWU (Providence) men's soccer team received two goals from Bruno Teixeira as part of a 3-1 victory over the University of New England in Conference of New England (CNE) action Saturday afternoon.
Teixeira's big day got going in the 14th minute when the senior scored to give the Wildcats (2-0-2, 1-0-0 CNE) the advantage.
The Nor'Easters (4-2-0, 0-1-0 CNE) tied the match when Cole Osburn scored on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to send the game to halftime knotted at one.
Graduate student Chad Parente put JWU on top for good in the 54th minute with his first goal of 2026 before Teixeira added an insurance marker in the 82nd minute.
Both teams finished with six shots on goal. Wildcats junior goalkeeper William Slayton tallied five saves to lift his record to 2-0-2 on the season.
JWU returns to the pitch Wednesday when the club entertains Rhode Island College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
