Wildcats secure home playoff game with 22-9 win over Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) women's lacrosse team locked up the No. 3 seed in the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament with a 22-9 win at Nichols College Wednesday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

First-year and reigning CNE Rookie of the Week Riley Shepley continued her assault on the conference with six goals and a pair of assists for the Wildcats, who closed the regular season with a 9-7 record (7-3 CNE). They will host No. 6 Suffolk Saturday at 11 am at the SMAC.

Classmate Sidney Mayers netted five goals and handed out two assists and fellow first-year Cassie Burke racked up three goals and a helper. A trio of first-year's – Giovanna Gulinello, Sophia Frazier, and Rhya Saloom – all found the back of the net twice and senior Mila Kuilan tallied a goal and an assist.

Burke won a game-high seven draw controls while first-year Keira Donegan secured six of her own. JWU held a 37-27 edge in shots and saw senior Kylie O'Keefe and first-year Carley Cook combine for nine saves.
