Men's Lacrosse drops 18-12 contest to Leopards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Jacob Graham, along with sophomores Greyson Doyle and Matthew Bancroft, all scored three goals for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in an 18-12 loss to Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Junior Jack Davis added two goals and four apples and freshman Eddie Stradowski dished out five assists as the Wildcats (3-7, 2-4 CNE) were outscored 9-4 in the second half. Junior Jack Donnelly racked up seven ground balls and classmate Cameron Courchesne recorded 12 saves in relief of junior starter Ethan Moshier.

The game was full of runs, beginning with a 3-0 run by the Wildcats to open the scoring. The Leopards ripped off the next six before the Wildcats netted four of the next five to tie the game at seven late in the first half. The visitors struck for two more in the final 1:59 of the half to take a 9-8 lead to the locker room.

Goals from Davis and Doyle less than three minutes apart in the third pulled JWU even with the Leopards at 10. Wentworth responded with seven unanswered to grab a commanding 17-10 lead with 9:11 remaining in regulation.

The Leopards (6-6, 2-4 CNE) won 20-of-34 face-offs and outshot the Wildcats 61-29 – including 33-12 over the final 30 minutes.
