Softball sweeps Friday, runs win streak to four

CLERMONT, Fla. – The JWU (Providence) softball team capped its season-opening trip to Florida with wins over Eastern University and Alma College Friday at The Spring Games. With the wins, the Wildcats evened their record at 5-5 as they head back to 'The Ocean State.'

Wildcats 6, Eagles 5
The Wildcats rallied for four in the bottom of the sixth to notch their fourth win of the season. After sophomore Harper Ellis and senior Jadyn Torres brought in runs to cut the JWU deficit to one, senior Mady Lyons laced a two-run double to plate senior Olivia Mason and junior Amanda Madigan and put the Wildcats in front by one. Junior Madi Wong sent the Eagles down 1-2-3 in the seventh to lock up her first win of 2026. She allowed six hits and three runs with two walks and one strikeout in 5.1 innings of work.

Wildcats 6, Scots 3
The Wildcats struck for four runs in the first behind a two-run triple off the bat of first-year Ashley Bergeron and run-scoring singles from both Lyons and junior Chloe Brunelle. Lyons plated another in the fifth on a sac fly and sophomore Morgan Pelletier added a run-scoring single in the seventh. Senior Jillian Reed recorded her third win of the season with a complete-game, three-hitter. She did not walk a batter and struck out three.
