Bergeron picks up six hits as softball takes two on Thursday

CLERMONT, Fla. – The (JWU) Providence softball team won a pair of games on Thursday, defeating Capital University and Clark (MA) University at The Spring Games.

Wildcats 6, Comets 1
First-year Ashley Bergeron went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI triples and junior Jessica Forneiro went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored for the Wildcats, who struck for four runs in the second and held the Comets to just three hits. Junior Brianna Ghilardi surrendered three hits and one unearned run over five innings to earn her first win of the season.

Wildcats 4, Cougars 0
Bergerson smacked her first collegiate home run in the second inning and finished with three hits. Junior Gabby Bellamore ripped a two-run triple in the sixth as JWU improved to 3-5 on the season. Junior Chloe Brunelle also drove in a run in support of senior Jillian Reed, who went the distance to notch her second win of the season. She held the Cougars to four hits and fanned six without walking a batter.
