Valdez Jimenez plates five in loss to Randolph Macon

ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Jeff Valdez Jimenez belted a three-run home run and drove in five runs for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 15-6 loss to Randolph Macon College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Hugh Stevens Field.

The Boston, Massachusetts native plated two in the fourth with a single to center before launching a three-run home run in the sixth. Valdez Jimenez and senior Ryan Ducey each finished with two hits as the Wildcats (1-2) made seven errors which led to five unearned runs.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2) blew the game open with five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to grab a 14-3 lead through five.

Sophomore Brady Moring got the start for JWU and allowed 10 hits and eight runs (five earned) in 3.1 innings of work. Classmate Jeremy Auren drew a bases-loaded walk in the first to record an RBI and later picked up his first collegiate hit, as did freshman Sam Schoenberg.
