Softball splits DH with in-state rival RIC

Lyons becomes all-time home run leader

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Mady Lyons smoked a pair of home runs to become the JWU (Providence) softball program's all-time leader in an 11-8 win over in-state rival Rhode Island College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Game One: Wildcats 11, Anchorwomen 8
Lyons went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI as the Wildcats notched their eighth win of the season. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native belted a solo home run to center in the fourth to leap past Emily Gorecki (2014-17) and into sole possession atop the leaderboard with her 30th career dinger, then launched a two-run shot in the fifth to make it an 11-5 JWU lead.

Senior Olivia Mason and junior Macy Pagano each registered three hits, and both Mason and junior Chloe Brunelle picked up two RBI. Senior Jillian Reed recorded her fifth win of 2026 as she allowed nine hits and five runs with two strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work.

Game Two: Anchorwomen 13, Wildcats 9
Sophomore Morgan Pelletier went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and five RBI in a game which saw RIC scored six times in the fifth to open up an 11-5 lead. Junior Amanda Madigan and first-year Ashley Bergeron each laced an RBI double, and both Bergeron and Torres finished with two hits. Freshman Ciara Murray took the loss as she was tagged for five hits and eight runs (seven earned) with eight walked and four strikeouts in 4.1 IP.
