Softball drops two in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. – The JWU (Providence) softball team opened the 2026 campaign with a pair of no-conference losses Sunday at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

Golden Wolves 4, Wildcats 3
Senior Mady Lyons went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a two-run single for JWU. Junior Gabby Bellamore collected a pair of hits and junior Macy Pagano had an RBI groundout for the Wildcats, who surrendered four runs in the fourth. Junior Brianna Ghilardi allowed four runs on two hits with five walks and four punchouts in 3.1 IP.

Thunder 14, Wildcats 1 (5 inn.)
Junior Chloe Brunelle picked up two of the Wildcats five hits and senior Jadyn Torres doubled to center that helped bring in Brunelle for the lone JWU run. Senior starter Jillian Reed surrendered 15 hits and 14 runs (12 earned) over four innings.
