Beale scores shootout winner to give Wildcats extra point in tie at WIT

EVERETT, Mass. – Sophomore Bret Beale score the shootout winner for the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team in a 2-2 tie at Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Allied Veterans Memorial Rink.

Sophomores Jack Lamothe and Cullen Hennessy scored goals in regulation for the Wildcats (6-12-1, 4-10-1 CNE), who were outshot 40-35 and saw junior Jake Inzirillo stop 38 shots. The tie keeps JWU in a tie for the sixth and final playoff berth with Roger Williams.

Lamothe's first collegiate goal 5:33 into the contest came off a pass from classmate Evan Gravel and tied the game at one. Following a scoreless second, Hennessy's third tuck of the season put the visitors in front 2-1.

The Leopards (5-12-1, 4-10-1 CNE) drew even on a goal with 5:29 remaining in regulation.

Juniors Brad Crook and Harout Torosian each won 10 face-offs for the Wildcats while junior Connor Nelson got off a team-high eight shots.
