BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior
Alvin Baez poured in a career-high 46 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in a 102-80 loss to No. 11 Endicott College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at MacDonald Gymnasium.
The Providence, Rhode Island native shot 67 percent from the field (18-of-27) from the field and 9-of-10 from the line to almost single-handedly keep the Wildcats within striking distance against the nationally-ranked Gulls (20-1, 11-0 CNE) until the waning moments of the second half.
Baez also snared eight rebounds to go with three steals and a pair of blocks in 37 minutes of action. Freshman
Colin Rice finished the contest with 12 points while sophomore
Azariah Harrison registered eight points, five rebounds and two steals.
The Wildcats (3-18, 2-10 CNE) knocked down 53 percent of their shots and went 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. Freshman
De'Angelo Owens filled the stat sheet with seven points, four boards and four steals.
Endicott canned 54 percent of its shots and outrebounded the Wildcats 36-26. The Gulls had three student-athletes score at least 20 points, led by Elijah Kinney with 30.
