Allyson Barry scored a pair of power play goals and freshman
Avery Hall stopped 28 shots to lift the JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team to a 4-2 win over Western New England University Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action the Rhode Island Sports Center.
Sophomore
Ava Morgan scored the eventual game-winner 6:31 into the second period and classmate
Marissa Lafferty added an empty-netter with 13 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Wildcats – their program-record 12th of the season.
Barry scored PP goals 6:20 into the first and 3:14 into the second to stake JWU to a 2-0 lead. Morgan was then credited with a goal that was knocked in by the Golden Bears to extend the lead to three.
Western New England (16-7-1, 12-4-1 CNE) netted a power-play goal late in the second and a shorty 3:28 into the third to climb to within one at 3-2. The Golden Bears outshot the Wildcats 16-6 in the third but were denied time and time against by Hall, who earned her fourth win of the season.
The Wildcats blocked a total of 20 shots, including three each from senior captain
Kylie O'Keefe and sophomore
Ashlyn Libby.
