PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior
Chris Alexander scored a pair of goals to lift the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team to a 4-3 win over Roger Williams University Saturday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action Saturday afternoon at Lynch Arena.
Sophomore
Cullen Hennessy added a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, who completed a season-sweep of the Hawks to lift their record to 7-13-2 (5-11-1 CNE) and secure a berth in the CNE Tournament. They close the regular season with a home-and-home with nationally-ranked Endicott next weekend before hitting the road for a quarterfinal contest on February 25.
The Hawks outshot the Wildcats 33-31 but were stymied by junior
Jake Inzirillo for the second-consecutive night as the netminder stopped 30 shots to earn his seventh win of the season. Freshman
Jack Gerne also lit the lap as the home team closed the night 1-for-5 on the power play.
JWU sophomore defenseman
Joseph Sciabarra picked up two more assists, giving him four in two games against the Hawks (6-15-1, 4-12-1 CNE) this weekend. Junior
Harout Torosian, sophomore
Bret Beale, and freshman
Zachary Brady all tallied an apple in the win.
