Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Nelson scores twice in loss at No. 8 UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Junior Connor Nelson scored a pair of goals for the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team in a 6-3 loss to No. 8 University of New England Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Harold Alfond Forum.

Sophomore Bret Beale added his fifth goal of the season for the Wildcats (6-10-1, 4-9-0 CNE), who also saw sophomore Coby Fox collect his first collegiate point, an assist on Beale's third-period marker.

UNE built a 5-1 lead after two periods of play before Beale and Nelson scored for JWU in the final 10 minutes of the third. The Wildcats were unable to convert on any of their five power-play opportunities while the Nor'easters went 1-for-4 and outshot the visitors 59-20.

Junior Jake Inzirillo got the start between the pipes and stopped 40 shots before he was lifted in favor of sophomore Maxim Zinchenko midway through the third.
