Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Cardoso notches fourth career shutout in 3-0 win over Rivier

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Sophomore Grace Adams recorded a goal and an assist and classmate Katelyn Cardoso stopped all 25 shots she faced as the JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team rolled to a 3-0 win over Rivier University Tuesday night in non-conference action at Lynch Arena.

Sophomore Kailin Kane scored for the second-straight game and senior captain Kylie O'Keefe potted her fifth goal of the season to help the Wildcats even their record at 8-8-1.  Seven different student-athletes found their way onto the scoresheet for JWU, including sophomores Ava Morgan (1A), Jordan Hopping (1A), Marissa Lafferty (1A), and freshman Annalise MacPhee (1A).

Kane opened the scoring at 3:19 of the second when she knocked home a rebound off a shot from Adams. O'Keefe polished off a 2-on-1 with Hopping with a tap-in at the right post less than nine minutes later to double the lead before Adams capped the scoring with a goal right off a face-off win by Lafferty with 2:12 remaining in regulation.

The Wildcats closed the night with a 48-25 edge in shots – including a 36-12 advantage over the final 40 minutes. Junior Sophia Brea led all student-athletes with six shots while senior Allyson Barry blocked four and Lafferty won nine draws.
