Women's Basketball pulls away from Curry in second half for 72-54 win

MILTON, Mass. – Sophomore Brianne Foley poured in a game-high 22 points to lift the JWU (Providence) women's basketball team to a 72-54 win over Curry College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Katz Gymnasium.

Foley also pulled down nine rebounds and sank 4-of-6 from the charity stripe as the Wildcats improved to 14-4 on the season (8-1 CNE) and remained tied for first place. Sophomores Isabella Suero and Mya Jiminez each chipped in with 10 points while sophomore Mia Cruz and freshman Tahlia Peña each scored eight.

JWU finished the contest shooting 40 percent but struggled from deep, connecting on just 8-of-28 (29 pct.) attempts from long range. The Colonels (2-15, 1-8 CNE) played a spirited three quarters and trailed by just three (47-44) after three quarters before being outscored 25-10 over the final 10 minutes.

Senior Mikayla Caruso pulled down six boards and Jiminez finished with five for JWU, which turned 24 Curry turnovers into 22 points. Suero, meanwhile, handed out six dimes while Pena, Jiminez, and freshman Zoe Mercado each racked up two steals.
