Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey comes up one goal short at No. 7/9 Curry

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Sophomore Bret Beale and freshman Jack Gerne scored goals for the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team in a 3-2 loss at No. 7/9 Curry College Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Canton Ice House.

Senior captain Davis Bone and junior Joe Freeman racked assists for the Wildcats (5-7-1, 3-5-0 CNE), who jumped out to a 2-0 only to see the nationally-ranked Colonels rally back for two in the third to snatch the victory.

Beale scored the only goal of the first with one second remaining in the opening period to send the Wildcats to the locker room with a one-goal lead. Gerne's first career shorthanded marker 3:43 into the second doubled the visitors lead.

Curry (11-4-0, 8-2-0 CNE) cut its deficit to one with a goal midway through the second before tying the contest on the power play 2:07 later. Ben Biester tucked home the eventual game-winner at 10:22 of the third.

Sophomore netminder Maxim Zinchenko stopped 44 shots for the Wildcats while Bone went 12-of-22 at the face-off dot and senior Cam Martin blocked a team-high four shots.
