Beale scores twice in 3-2 win at Nichols

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Sophomore Bret Beale scored a pair of goals – including the game-winning goal in the third – to lift the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Nichols College Tuesday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Levy Rink.

Junior Connor Nelson also found the back of the net for the Wildcats, who improved to 5-6-1 (3-4-0 CNE). Freshman Patrick Poirier dished out two assists and junior netminder Jake Inzirillo turned aside 34 shots to earn his fifth win of the season.

The Bison 7-8-0 (4-6-0 CNE) opened the scoring with a PP goal 13:20 into the first before Beale's third goal in as many games this season with 34 seconds remaining tied the game at one after one.

Nelson's team-leading 11th of the season 37 seconds into the second gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. The Bison tied the game less than six minutes later, which set the stage for Beale to pot the game-winner at 12:28 of the third.

Senior Cam Martin and sophomore Joseph Sciabarra tallied assists on Nelson's goal while senior Davis Bone won 22-of-33 face-offs (66.7 pct.). Freshman Zachary Brady blocked three shots to lead JWU.
