PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wesleyan (CT) University Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Ava Vaughan turned aside 11 shots for the Wildcats (1-1-1), who were outshot 22-2 on the afternoon. Senior

Sofia Soares were each credited with one shot on goal for JWU.
The Cardinals (1-0-0) outshot the Wildcats 12-0 in the first half but were unable to put one past Vaughn and the Wildcat defense. After having a goal called back for offsides 12 minutes into the second half, Wesleyan's Maria Utz won a free ball and scored into the lower right corner of the net at 75:36.
