Volleyball rallies past Warriors in five, defeated by Vasser

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The JWU (Providence) women's volleyball team played a pair of five-set matches on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Eastern Connecticut State University, defeating the Warriors 3-2 before falling to Vasser College.

Wildcats 3, Warriors 2 (25-20, 16-25, 28-30, 26-24, 15-11)
The Wildcats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to secure their eighth win of the season. Sophomore Nevaeh Arnold racked up a team-high 16 kills to go with four digs, three blocks, and a pair of assists. Classmate Bailey Koopman recorded a .500 hitting pct. as she tallied 12 kills on 18 attempts along with four blocks. Freshman Brooke Caquelin collected 10 kills and seven digs while senior Sierra Nausieda notched a season-high 29 digs and freshman Sophia Santacroce dished out 33 helpers.  Defensively, the Wildcats finished with 15 blocks (one solo) as Arnold had four (one solo), and both senior Ajie Jagne and freshman Vivi Mansfield finished with three apiece.

Brewers 3, Wildcats 2 (25-18, 13-25, 23-25, 25-12, 6-15)
Mansfield and Caquelin each picked up 10 kills while Koopman (.500 hitting pct.) notched eight and both Jagne and Arnold finished with five as the Wildcats forced a fifth set before running out of gas. Nausieda recorded 18 digs, Santacroce handed out 28 assists, Mansfield had three aces, and Koopmen went off for six blocks.
