Field Hockey blanks Lasell, 3-0

NEWTON, Mass. – Senior Caitlin Quinn, along with juniors Emily Downing and Ava Pontes, each found the back of the cage for the JWU (Providence) field hockey team in a 3-0 win at Lasell University Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Grellier Field.

Junior Hannah Geil added a pair of assists for the Wildcats, who outshot the Lasers 20-10 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Downing also collected an assist as JWU received three saves from junior goalie Sophia Brea en route to their third shutout of the season.

Dowling scored the only goal JWU would need 6:07 into the second off a feed from Geil. In the fourth, Pontes and Quinn scored 1:40 apart to put the game away for the visitors.

The Wildcats held an 11-8 edge in penalty corners and were led by shots by sophomore Susannah Brown with six.
