Field Hockey records first CNE win with a 7-1 victory at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – Senior Zofia Bangs scored three goals for the JWU (Providence) field hockey team, which picked up its first-ever Conference of New England (CNE) win with a 7-1 thumping of Gordon College Saturday afternoon at the Brighton Athletic Complex.

Classmate Emma Ferrara added a pair of goals for the Wildcats, who moved to 3-1 on the season by outshooting the Fighting Scots 24-2. Junior Emily Downing added three assists while sophomore Susannah Brown notched a goal and two assists.

The Wildcats struck for three goals in the opening 12:22 of the contest. Bangs potted her second and third goals of 2025 before freshman Faith Miguel scored her second of the season. Bangs polished off the hat trick six minutes into the second and Ferrara's first of the day 54 seconds before halftime capped the first-half scoring.

Brown's second goal of the season came at 52:13 and Ferrara capped the scoring just over five minutes lates. Senior Rebecca Johnson and junior Sophia Brea each played 30 minutes in goal, and neither was forced to make a save. Brea got the start and was credited with the win.
