Wildcats open season with 1-1 draw at Montclair St.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Freshman Camila Leiva scored her first collegiate goal for the JWU (Providence) women's soccer team in a 1-1 tie with Montclair State University Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field.

Junior goalkeeper Ava Vaughan made three saves for the Wildcats (0-0-1), who were outshot 11-4 yet led for the majority of the match before the Red Hawks evened the match late in the second half. Sophomore Jamie Davies paced JWU with three shots.

Leiva opened the scoring at 29:02 and the Wildcats finished the first half with a 3-2 edge in shots. Mackenzie Albert pulled her team even with a marker at 81:24. MSU recorded the only shot attempt over the course of the remaining eight-and-a-half minutes of action.
