SALISBURY, Md. – Redshirt junior
Ryan Ducey collected two hits and two RBI for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 10-6 loss to Ramapo College in the NCAA Tournament Saturday morning at Donnie Williams Stadium. With the loss, the Wildcats season ends at 28-15.
Senior
Zachary Amero opened the scoring with an RBI groundout that plated classmate
Owen Davis in the second. After the Roadrunners struck for two in the third, senior
Trevor Juan led off the fourth with a double and scored on a single from senior
Xavier Botelho to knot the game at two.
Ramapo regained the lead at 4-2 on a two-run single in the fourth. Obert answered with his third round-tripper of the season in the fifth over the right field fence to make it a one-run game again at 4-3.
In the sixth, an RBI single from Obert and a two-run single from Ducey staked JWU to a 6-4 lead. The Roadrunners put up a '5' spot on five hits in the seventh to grab a 9-6 advantage before tacking on another in the eighth.
Junior
Brett Nickerson started for JWU and left with a 6-4 lead after allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) over 4.1 innings of work. Senior
Garrett Fusco took the loss as he surrendered five hits and five runs in two innings to finish the season at 1-2.
Juan, Davis, Botelho, and freshman
Yedan Diaz all finished with two hits. Juan was named to the All-Tournament Team.
