PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) baseball team locked up the No. 1 seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs by taking two games from Lasell University Friday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
The Wildcats (23-13, 14-2 GNAC) will host a playoff pod next weekend at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Game One: Wildcats 9, Lasers 2

Owen Davis smacked a three-run home run and drove in four to propel the Wildcats to a game one win. Classmate
Trevor Juan also notched three hits – including a solo home run in the fifth – and senior
Zachary Amero went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the ninth. Junior
Aidan Vining allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out nine in 7.1 innings to go to 7-0 on the season. Senior
Ryan Schultz closed out the contest with 1.2 IP of scoreless relief.
Game Two: Wildcats 5, Lasers 4

Xavier Botelho laced a two-run single in the third and Juan – who finished with three hits – recorded an RBI with an infield single to help JWU build a 4-0 lead. After the Lasers rallied from to pull even with two in the third and two in the fifth, sophomore
Jeff Valdez Jimenez lifted a sac fly in the ninth to bring in Davis with the go-ahead run. Schultz, meanwhile, struck out seven in three scoreless innings of relief to notch his fourth win of the season. Junior

Ryan St. Jean tallied two.
