PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Matthew Bancroft scored a career-high six goals for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in a 13-10 loss to Dean College Wednesday night in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Jack Davis added a goal and two apples for the Wildcats (7-8, 4-5 GNAC), who have secured the No. 4 seed in the GNAC South Division and will head to Nashua, New Hampshire this Saturday to meet the top-seeded team out of the North Division, Rivier, at 1 p.m.

Freshman Jacob Tresser added two goals and senior Jackson Vecchio went for a goal and an assist as JWU trailed 5-0 after one and was never able to draw even. The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs 3-0 in the third to climb to within two at 10-8 and later received goals from Vecchio and Davis 60 seconds apart in the fourth to make it 11-10 with nine minutes remaining.

Dean's Alec Speirs answered with his fourth and fifth goals of the night at 8:01 and 2:10 of the fourth to put his team in front 13-10 and give the Bulldogs their 12th win of the season (6-3 GNAC). The Wildcats outshot the Bulldogs 53-48 and won 15-of-27 at the X.

Senior Kyle Marcinko tallied an assist while both Davis and junior Thomas Haggerty collected a team-high six ground balls. Sophomore Ethan Mosier stopped five saves between the pipes.
