Mady Lyons smacked a pair of home runs and drove in five runs to help the JWU (Providence) softball team split its non-conference doubleheader with Framingham State University Thursday evening at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Game One: Wildcats 8, Rams 4
Lyons smashed a three-run homer in the first and a two-run blast off the scoreboard in the second to propel the Wildcats to a win in the opener. Freshman
Morgan Pelletier plated a pair of runs with a double in the fifth and senior
Katie Scheid allowed seven hits and four runs (two earned) with two walks and four strikeouts to move to 10-5 on the season. Senior
Danielle Floyd recorded three hits and scored twice.
Game Two: Rams 5, Wildcats 3

Caroline Amorelli laced a two-run single and Lyons scored on an error to stake JWU to a 3-0 lead after three innings. Senior
Mackenzie Clee held the Rams to three hits and no runs through six before they struck for five runs on five hits in the seventh and grabbed the win. The Warminster, Pennsylvania native gave up eight hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Amorelli, meanwhile, finished with two hits.
