PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman
Matthew Bancroft scored four goals for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in a 19-2 win over Mitchell College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Sophomore
Jack Davis dished out eight assists as 11 different student-athletes recorded points to help the Wildcats even their record at 6-6 (3-3 GNAC). Freshman
Owen Centeio racked up five points (2-3-5) while all four seniors –
Jackson Vecchio (3-1-4),
Donny McInnis (1-3-4),
David Hill (1-1-2), and
Kyle Marcinko (1-0-1) – all collected points on Senior Day.
Junior
Thomas Haggerty notched a team-high seven ground balls and freshman
Brayden White filled the stat sheet with five ground balls and a team-high five caused turnovers. Sophomore
Ethan Mosier picked up eight saves to move to 2-0 on the season.
JWU outshot the Mariners 45-18 and forced 24 turnovers. The Wildcats outscored the visitors 8-0 in the second to turn a 2-1 lead into a 12-1 halftime advantage.
