Tresser, Graham, Bancroft pick up hat tricks in 16-7 win over Pride

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team outscored Regis (MA) College 9-1 in the second half to secure a 16-7 win Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Jacob Graham, along with freshmen Jacob Tresser and Matthew Bancroft, all picked up a hat trick for the Wildcats (7-6, 4-3 GNAC), who ran their win streak to three. Graham also dished out two assists while senior Donny McInnis racked up five points (2-3-5) and sophomore Jack Davis notched four points (2-2-4).

Junior Thomas Haggerty and Graham each collected six ground balls to pace the home team, which outshot the Pride 24-12 over the final 30 minutes. Bancroft, meanwhile, caused four turnovers while senior David Hill forced three and also registered three ground balls, and Marcinko had three GB's and two assists.

The Pride held a 5-2 lead late in the first half before the Wildcats ripped off five unanswered goals – including two from Tresser – to move in front 7-5. Then, leading by one entering the second half, JWU held the visitors off the scoreboard for the first 28:16 of the second half as Bancroft recorded a natural hat trick and Graham compiled all four of his points.

Freshman Andrew Sforza finished with seven saves as he improved to 5-6 on the season.
